Learning is not just about reading or listening to lectures. It is extremely important that you and your peers get a chance to discuss and consider programme content in the context of your nursing and midwifery experience. Although you may not be regularly meeting and chatting with your peers face to face, you will be having many 'virtual' conversations in Blackboard.

In the live online classroom, students can use their microphone/webcam and text chat to ask questions; make comments; upload documents; suggest resources etc. and interact together as most students do in a face to face classroom. Alternatively, students can have online discussions using Blackboard discussion forums and blogs.

Most blended modules feature an Ask a Question forum where students can post questions/comments/resources. The forums are regularly monitored, and questions usually answered within 24 hours Monday to Friday.

It is very important to keep in touch and use each other's knowledge and experience to help make sense of content, and also to support each other preparing for assignments and exams. What you get out of the blended learning experience will be directly related to how much time and effort you put in to using the online communication tools available to you.
